LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- WDRB in the Morning got up bright and early for its annual Kentucky Derby show.
Sterling Riggs and Candyce Clifft have talked to chefs, trainers, owners and more all week long to bring the local flavor to Louisville's biggest day.
Meteorologist Jude Redfield kept an eye on a possibly rainy forecast for the big day, and he enjoys giving a little gentle ribbing to the people on camera and behind the scenes. You might imagine he's our staff joker!
Keith Kaiser dressed in what we're calling a "confetti suit!" He spent the morning with "his people" in the Infield getting to know some of the more colorful characters like him.
Our sports director Tom Lane along with columnists Eric Crawford and Rick Bozich shared their expertise about the horses and all the connections they've talked to Derby week.
Mike Marshall stayed back at the studio to pass along traffic information to get you into the track.
Gina Glaros and Kate Springer set up in turn 2 with a spectacular view of the Twin Spires. They've had a great time doing stories about parts of the Derby most people don't get to see.
Reporters Hayden Ristevski and Lexie Ratterman have been stationed at the Paddock and in the Clubhouse to show how security plans are working.
And the behind the scenes crew including producers, photographers, engineers and digital team have done their best to make sure viewers get the very best information to start off their day.
Happy Derby Day, everybody!
