SHELBYVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky State Police and Shelby County Fire are investigating after a fire left two people dead.

Police tell WDRB the fire happened Sunday morning at a home in the 100 block of Gloria Drive in Shelbyville.

Firefighters were dispatched on a report of a vehicle fire, but found three working fires when they arrived to the scene.

Jeff Ivers, with Shelby County Fire and Rescue, said crews found a car, a detached garage and a home on fire.

Two people, a man and a woman, were found dead after neighbors told firefighters they were still inside during the fire.

KSP said Georgina Knott was found dead inside the home, but police believe James Knott, who was found inside one of the vehicles at the home, shot himself.

Detectives are still working to determine which fire started first.

"We're not for sure. The way we are looking at it is, we're looking at it as three separate fires, so with our investigators on scene, that's one of the things they're going to have to determine for us," Ivers said.

Shelby County Fire and Rescue called in KSP to investigate.

"With their detectives, with their arson bureau, and their capabilities of being able to collect evidence, if it's necessary," Ivers said. "We do contact them to come and assist us in the investigation."

The investigation is ongoing. This story will be updated.
