Suspect arrested after standoff on Bashford Manor Lane overnight

A man who locked himself in an apartment on Bashford Manor Lane overnight Monday refused to come out until officers used tear gas. A man who locked himself in an apartment on Bashford Manor Lane overnight Monday refused to come out until officers used tear gas.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A man is in custody after he barricaded himself inside an apartment for more than five hours early Monday morning. 

Police say they were called to the apartments on Paragon Court and Bashford Manor Lane in West Buechel around 2 a.m. Monday after receiving reports that a man was there in violation of an emergency order of protection.

Police say he was also damaging property and threatening to hurt others. 

When officers arrived, they say the suspect locked himself inside and refused to come out.

SWAT and other response teams were called and in place by 4 a.m. The bomb squad was also on scene to use use a robotic camera to keep a visual on the subject. 

After several hours trying to persuade him to come out, police used tear gas. The man came out of the apartment without further incident immediately after the tear gas was deployed. 

No one was hurt and police say neighbors were never in immediate danger. 

The scene was clear and the road was reopened by 7:30 a.m. 

The suspect has not yet been identified.
