LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A New Albany woman was arrested Tuesday afternoon, days after police say she shot a man over a dispute involving $45.

According to an arrest report, the incident took place on April 28 in Louisville. Police say 24-year-old Melinda Stafford hit a man with a gun, then shot him. Police say she then fled the scene and threw the gun in a sewer.

Louisville Metro Police arrested Stafford on a warrant Tuesday afternoon. During her arrest, police say they saw her stuff a large bag of methamphetamine under the back seat of the vehicle she was in.

She is charged with first-degree assault, tampering with physical evidence and trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine). She is currently being held in Louisville Metro Corrections.

The identity and condition of the victim has not been released.
