Suspect pleads guilty to New Albany's only homicide in 2016
The suspect in New Albany's only homicide of 2016 has pleaded guilty.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The suspect in New Albany's only homicide of 2016 has pleaded guilty.
Jordan Richie pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in the shooting death of 32-year-old Troy Redd in New Albany.
Police found Redd dead on a sidewalk outside the Cross Creek Apartments on Green Valley Road on Aug. 24, 2016.
On Dec. 12, 2016, police in Louisville recognized Richie as he was getting into a silver Ford Mustang on Rockford Lane and arrested him.
According to the arrest report, LMPD officers found a gun "partially concealed under a sweatshirt" in the back seat.
Floyd County Prosecutor Keith Henderson said Richie and Redd had been gambling in the parking lot before the shooting, and that "a fairly large sum of money" was involved.
Redd's daughter was born just weeks after his murder.
Richie is scheduled to be sentenced on May 17.
