Electric bike store opens in Highlands

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A new bike store has pedaled into Louisville, promising to make it easier for bikers to plow up hills and into headwinds.
Kentucky's first Pedego Electric Bikes store opened in the Highlands on Friday.
Each bike sold at the store has a throttle and a pedal assist that makes it easier to pedal that traditional bikes. Bikers can set the controls so that they provide different levels of assistance.
Owner Frank Muscato spent more than 50 years in law enforcement, before his wife urged him to try an electric bike.
"I was 74 the first time I rode one of these bikes, and all of a sudden, I could ride like a 20-year-old," said Muscato. "I could pass a 20-year-old, so it's just that much better for me."
The Pedego store is at 1403 Bardstown Road, near Eastern Parkway, and both sells and leases bikes.
