LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The new president of the University of Louisville starts her job on Tuesday, beginning a new chapter at the school.

Dr. Neeli Bendapudi is the first woman and first person of color to serve as president of the university. She previously served as the provost at the University of Kansas.

One of her biggest challenges will be to overcome losses in fundraising, which came as the men's basketball team faced several scandals.

She replaces James Ramsey, who left in July 2016 amid controversy over extra payments made to him and other administrators from the university's foundation.
