LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Renovations to a Louisville cancer support organization's new building began Monday in unique fashion.

With sledge hammers in hand, special guests and Gilda's Club founders beat down cancer ... and a wall. The building, which used to be part of the Louisville Collegiate School's campus, will become Gilda's Club new headquarters next summer.

Moving from the current Bardstown Road building will allow the group to serve more families and offer much more parking.

"Living with cancer is not anything anyone would chose to do, but how you live with it is your choice," said Karen Morrison, President and CEO of Gilda's Club. "Living with cancer with joy, with laughter, with style, with purpose ... that's really what we're all about."

The group will now be called Gilda's Club Kentuckiana, and a satellite location is now up and running in southern Indiana.

Another one is planned to open at the Passport Health Campus at Broadway and 18th Street.
