Kentutcky State Police honor fallen troopers

LONDON, Ky. (AP) - Kentucky State Police have honored several troopers who died decades ago in the line of duty.

State police said in a news release Wednesday that personnel in Wayne County placed a wreath at the grave of Trooper John Wayne Hutchinson at Elk Springs Cemetery. Hutchinson was killed in 1975 while arresting a drunken driver in McCreary County.

On Thursday, state police placed a wreath at the Clay County grave of Trooper Elmer Mobley Jr. Mobley was killed in a crash in 1964 while responding to a call for assistance in Pike County. Mobley was with Trooper Cecil W. Uzzle, who was also killed. State police at the Madisonville post placed a wreath at Uzzle's Hopkins County grave on Thursday.

The Madisonville post also honored Trooper Joseph Ward Jr. who died in 1973 after being hit by a vehicle.
