Neighbors on edge after man shot and killed outside south Louisville home
People who live in the neighborhood say they don’t want Louisville's latest murder victim to be forgotten.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Authorities have identified the man who was found shot to death a few blocks south of the University of Louisville.
The victim was 20-year-old Anthony Edwards, according to Deputy Coroner Anthony Wight.
Officers responded to the area of South 4th Street and Winkler Avenue just before midnight on Tuesday. That's where police found Edwards dead in the yard of a home behind a car wash.
Edwards was found outside Dawn Hadley's home. On Wednesday, she left flowers near the spot where his body was found. She says she doesn't want Louisville’s latest murder victim to be forgotten.
“He’s a young guy," Hadley said. "He’s not just a number. He’s a person. It’s unjustified, it’s not right. It’s just the beginning of the summer, and there’s a lot of people dying for no reason at all. It’s just gotta stop.”
Police have not released any suspect information and are asking the community to come forward. Investigators say quite a few people were outside in the area near the time of the crime, and are hoping someone heard or saw something that can help.
Anyone with information is asked to call the LMPD tip line at 574-LMPD. All callers can remain anonymous.
