LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville City FC will have a major challenge at home next week when they host the New England Revolution from Major League Soccer in the 4th round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
The game will be next Wednesday with the time and venue still to be determined.
It will be the first time Lou City has hosted a team from the top level of American soccer. It will give U of L fans a chance to see former Cardinal great Andrew Farrell, a defender for the Revolution.
The boys in purple advanced to the fourth round with a 1-0 victory over Saint Louis FC Wednesday night at Lynn Stadium. Defender Sean Totsch's blast in the 58th minutes curled into the top left-corner of the goal for the only tally of the contest.
Before they think about New England, Louisville City will have a regular season meeting at rival FC Cincinnati Saturday night at 7:00 pm at Nippert Stadium. It's the second of three meetings this season for the top two teams in the Eastern Conference.
