LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Authorities have identified a man shot to death by a Carroll County, Kentucky, homeowner Tuesday morning.

That man has been identified as 37-year-old Shaun Corley.

According to David Wilhoite, the Carroll County Coroner, the incident took place just before 6 a.m., in the Sycamore Trace subdivision on Sycamore Circle in Carrollton, Kentucky.

Wilhoite says Corley kicked in the door of the home, and the homeowner shot him.

Corley was pronounced dead at about 6:40 a.m. The cause of death is listed as a single gunshot wound to the chest.

Just before the shooting, Wilhoite says Corley got into an argument with nearby sanitation engineers who were picking up the trash, and he pulled a knife on the workers. According to Wilhoite, a fight ensued, but it was eventually broken up. That's when, Wilhoite says, Corley went to the home and kicked in the door.

Residents in the area say the neighborhood is typically quiet and safe, but now, they're a little on edge.

"I'm a little scared now. Makes you want to double check all your doors and windows and be a little more alert," said Tammy Smith.

The Carroll County Sheriff's Department says it is still investigating the shooting. But there have been no arrests.
