Police arrest man who allegedly robbed Nelson County pawn shop at gunpoint
Police say the suspect was arrested on Tuesday.
BARDSTOWN, Ky. (WDRB) -- Bardstown Police say a man suspected of robbing a pawn shop at gunpoint has been arrested.
Kevin Purdom, 32, was arrested on Tuesday. According to a news release, Bardstown Police were dispatched to Bourbon City Pawn Cash Loan and Security, located at 117 Banjo Street, on Tuesday, on a report of a robbery.
Police say Purdom pointed a gun at an employee and demanded money. According to officials, Purdom took the money, and slammed a work phone on the floor, causing it to break so the employee wouldn't be able to call police.
Purdom then left the scene in a grey Jeep Cherokee.
Bardstown Police say police in Washington County advised a short time later that a jeep matching the vehicle's description was involved in a multi-vehicle crash, and Purdom fled the scene.
Purdom was later arrested. He is being held at the Nelson County Jail on a charge of first-degree robbery.
