WANTED: Police say Caneyville man brutally beat and dragged woman
Joshua J. Stone is still on the loose and is described as "dangerous" by the Grayson County Sheriff's Office.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Authorities in Grayson County, Kentucky, are asking the public to be on the lookout for 33-year-old Joshua J. Stone. They say he is wanted and dangerous -- and responsible for brutally beating a woman in Caneyville, breaking her leg and dragging her with his vehicle.
According to a news release, deputies with the Grayson County Sheriff's Office were sent to the 3500 block of Yeaman Road, near Richland Road, just before 2 a.m. on Monday, May 28, after someone reported that some sort of domestic violence was taking place there.
When deputies arrived, they say they found "significant evidence of a struggle."
Authorities say that after a search, they found the victim: a woman who was hiding in tall grass about an eighth of a mile from the home. Police say she had been severely injured.
According to the news release, authorities believe Stone, the woman's boyfriend, attacked her. The Grayson County Sheriff's Office says he punched her in the face, and then, after learning that she might be pregnant, began kicking her in the stomach. He also allegedly dragged her down the road with his vehicle.
At some point during the assault -- it's not clear if it happened as she was being dragged or when he was beating her -- the victim's leg was broken. Police say that when Stone saw that his girlfriend's leg was broken, he began kicking her leg. He also broke her nose, according to the news release.
Eventually, the woman was able to get away and hide in the tall grass. Police say Stone ran away.
As of Thursday, the woman was still in the hospital.
Stone is still on the loose, and is wanted on charges of first-degree assault, first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree unlawful imprisonment and first-degree criminal mischief, with additional charges "likely," according to the Grayson County Sheriff's Office. He is described as a white male, 5'5", weighing approximately 150 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.
Anyone with any knowledge of the incident or Stone's whereabouts is asked to call the Grayson County Sheriff's Office at (270) 259-3024.
