LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- It's a form of transportation with a huge following, but some also see it as a way of giving back.

Roadhouse Electric Trains in the Brownsboro Road Shopping Center recently received a gift from a Model Railroad Association member who had passed away.

The member donated his model trains on the condition they'd be used to help teach others who are part of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kentuckiana.

Large scale and N-scale trains are on display for kids to learn about. It's a passion many train enthusiasts are happy to share with others.

"There are people from clubs as well participating in this. Every time my wife and I talk about it we get tears, so it's a pretty warm feeling to be able to do something like this for them," said Fred Soward, with the Model Railroad Association.

Other skills taught at the display include carpentry of a model train, operations and photography.
