LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Dozens of local World War II veterans are getting ready for a flight they'll never forget.

Honor Flight Bluegrass hosted 61 men for a get-together Monday night at Mission BBQ. On Tuesday. They'll head out on an Honor Flight from Louisville to Washington, D.C., visiting memorials and national landmarks.

Marion Webb from Scottsville, Kentucky, is making his first trip to the nation's capital.

"You run into people who can relate to what you're talking about and relate to what has taken place," Webb said. "And it brings back a lot of old memories."

The group leaving Tuesday is the biggest involving World War II veterans making an Honor Flight anywhere in the U.S. this year. The men will return to a big homecoming on Wednesday, which is D-Day.
