LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Homicide detectives are investigating, after a shooting that left one man dead in south Louisville early Tuesday.

LMPD responded to reports of the shooting around 8 a.m. on June 5 on Whipperwill Road, just off Saint Anthony’s Church Road near Manslick Road. It’s a dead end street with only about a dozen houses, which gives police only a handful of possible witnesses.

But LMPD investigators are hopeful that somebody saw something.

“We rely on witness information wherever they happen," said LMPD spokesman Dwight Mitchell. "Obviously, this is a little more remote, but you see several homes in the area. So someone knows something, and we hope we can get the information to find the person or persons responsible.”

Police say the victim was found on a gravel portion of the road near the dead end. He had been shot at least one time, and his killer is still on the loose.

Investigators say there’s no indication that the man lived on the road, and one of the many questions they have left to answer is why he was in the area.

Detectives were checking with neighbors Tuesday to find anyone who may have seen something. Several neighbors have security cameras on their homes,  which police say they will use in the investigation. And some neighbors did report hearing gunshots.

Police are still looking for suspects. Anyone with information is asked to call 574-LMPD (574-5673). Callers can remain anonymous.
