Part of I-65 in downtown Louisville to close for repairs June 8-9
The work will be done overnight on the section of I-65 between the Watterson Expressway and Interstate 64.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Drivers trying to get in or out of downtown Louisville are being warned about a planned closure this weekend on Interstate 65.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says it needs to make repairs to I-65 between the Watterson Expressway and Interstate 64. All the work will be done in the overnight hours this weekend.
The plan is to close northbound lanes of I-65 between I-264 and I-64 on Friday, June 8 at 9 p.m., through 5 a.m. Saturday, June 9.
Then on Saturday night from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. Sunday, it will be reversed. The southbound lanes will be closed.
The project is to fix asphalt joints on the stretch of highway that was repaired last year. KYTC spokeswoman Andrea Clifford says the work did not account for enough space from expansion of the asphalt.

"I think they thought a half an inch would be enough last year, when they were doing the work. It's been seen that over the winter and spring months that we need a little more room," Clifford said.
Barring any weather issues, crews are expected to wrap up the project this weekend.
