LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police in Grayson County arrested a man accused of assaulting his girlfriend and dragging her with his car.

Police arrested 33-year-old Joshua Stone on June 6 after receiving a tip on his whereabouts more than a week after the alleged incident in Caneyville in the early morning hours of May 28.

According the Grayson County Sheriff's Office, Stone attacked his girlfriend, punching her in the face during an argument. When he learned she might be pregnant, police say he kicked her in the stomach before dragging her down the road with his vehicle.

The victim was found hiding in tall grass about an eighth of a mile from where police believe she was attacked. She suffered severe injuries, including a broken nose and broken leg.

"This is one of the more aggressive cases that we've seen, as far as injuries to the victim," Grayson County Sheriff Norman Chaffins said.

Police say when Stone saw his girlfriend's leg was broken, he began kicking it. She was taken to University Hospital, where she spent several days.

The detective on the case gave out his personal cell phone number to the public to reach him directly if anyone saw Stone. And it worked.

"We had a citizen that saw him going into a residence," Chaffins said.

Stone was arrested at a residence west of Leitchfield off of Hwy. 54 in Grayson County.

He is facing numerous charges, including assault, wanton endangerment, unlawful imprisonment and criminal mischief. Police say more charges are expected. Officials say the community's help with tips made it possible for them to arrest Stone.
