Central High School art studio dedicated to artist LeRoy Neiman and Muhammad Ali
Lonnie Ali helped open the studio to inspire a generation of artists.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Central High School is home to a new art studio dedicated to two of the world's greatest.
Students marked the grand opening of the LeRoy Neiman Art Studio on Thursday, which celebrates the renowned artist's work and his longtime friendship with Muhammad Ali.
The studio and classroom space showcases some of Neiman's work of the champ. It's a perfect fit at Ali's former high school, and his widow Lonnie Ali said both men would be proud.
"They would be so happy to know they're inspiring another generation of young individuals of artists, and I know both would say this is the greatest studio ever, and some of the greatest artists in the world will come from this studio," she said.
Neiman did many famous paintings of Ali in his recognizable style. The two were very close friends.
The LeRoy Neiman Foundation funded the project, one of 11 in schools across the country.
