LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police have arrested a Louisville man authorities say drove drunk with his two-year-old son in the back seat.

Dewayne Holt, 25, was arrested Saturday in the 6900 block of Distribution Drive, near Greenbelt Highway.

According to an arrest report, police initially responded to the scene on a report of a "person down inside a vehicle." Police say Holt's window was down and a caller tried to wake him up for about 10 minutes, but Holt did not respond.

The caller then heard Holt's son crying and saw the child in the back seat, according to officials. Police say the caller stated the child was in a car seat and that it was turned over on its side.

When emergency workers got there, police say Holt had slurred speech and smelled of alcohol. EMS workers found Holt's son in the back seat of the car.

Police say Holt "did not seem to be alert, and did not have recognition of his son being in the back seat." According to officials, Holt stated he was tired and pulled over to sleep.

According to police, Holt told officers that he had been drinking earlier in that day. Officials say Holt had a blood alcohol content level of .113.

Officials say Holt had difficulty completing several field sobriety tests.

Police were not able to make contact with another caretaker for Holt's son and the child was taken to Norton Children's Hospital.

Holt is charged with first-degree wanton endangerment and DUI.
