LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Residents in Louisville's Highlands neighborhood might want to keep a closer eye on their yard gnomes.

Louisville Metro Police say porch thieves are targeting even the smallest yard decorations.

"They're stealing all kinds of things they can get their hands on," said Major Aubrey Gregory. "From bird baths, to yard gnomes, flower pots, patio furniture. Basically anything they can get their hands on."

LMPD says the thefts started Thursday night and have continued every night since. So far, there have been nearly 30 reports of stolen yard items.

Police say the stolen items are not easy to track, since most yard decorations don't have serial numbers.

Police are asking the public to keep an eye out and to check home surveillance video. Anyone with information is asked to call 574-LMPD.
