Hearing scheduled to determine who gets custody of 2-year-old Charlee Campbell
A custody hearing is scheduled Wednesday morning for 2-year-old Charlee Campbell.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A custody hearing is scheduled Wednesday for 2-year-old Charlee Campbell.
The custody hearing will be held in Bullitt Family Court.
At the hearing, a judge will decide if a family member is fit to take Charlee Campbell home.
Charlee disappeared from her Lebanon Junction home last week -- and was missing for more than 32 hours. Child Protective Services took custody of her after she was found.
Investigators have not determined if Charlee left her grandmother's Lebanon Junction home on her own.
Bullitt County Sheriff Donnie Tinnell says Charlee's grandmother, Beth Campbell, was supposed to be watching the child when she disappeared.
"Beth was negligent about her care for the care of that child," Tinnell said. "She has a responsibility to watch and care for that child when they're in your custody, care for them and keep them safe."
The County Attorney recommended waiting until after the custody hearing before charging the grandmother with a crime.
If Beth Campbell is charged, Tinnell says it will likely be a misdemeanor charge of endangering the welfare of a child.
