Teens create a Steampunk world at the South Central Regional Library
Keith Kaiser has a pre-party before Saturday night's alternative prom.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - The South Central Regional Library hosts the first-ever alternative prom for teens called morP (prom spelled backwards). The library's teen advisory group came up with the name and theme: steampunk.
Steampunk is a subgenre of science fiction or science fantasy. The style incorporates technology and industrial designs inspired by 19th-century steam-powered machinery.
On Saturday, June 16, 2018 from 7-11 p.m., teens are encouraged to dress in their best steampunk attire. The teens have held some workshops to create their themed accessories.
There will be supplies for those without costumes to make their own during the event. DJ L Churchill will provide the music and participants will get free refreshments.
This event is a great way to engage teens in a positive, safe and fun environment.
morP Steampunk Edition is a FREE after-hours library event for students in grades 7-12 only.
Registration is required. Click here to register for the morP alt-prom.
