LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Target hopes it has hit a bullseye with a new delivery service in Louisville and southern Indiana.

Starting June 14, delivery service Shipt is offering same-day delivery at all Target stores in Louisville, Clarksville and New Albany.

Customers may use the Shipt mobile app or website to choose whatever they need from Target -- everything from groceries to household items.

Shipt says customers can get as specific as they like with their order. For example, if you want green bananas instead of ripe ones, just make the request.

The delivery person picks up items and brings them straight to your door. Customers can pinpoint a one-hour delivery window for a drop-off time.

Janis Williamson is a Shipt contractor that delivers groceries, and she understands how the service can be a big benefit for busy people.

"They're doing so many other things with their friends, with their family, with their time -- instead of coming to the grocery store and spending all this time shopping. It's really a valuable service for everybody," Williamson said.

Middletown Target store team leader Heather O'Gara says stores welcome the opportunity to move into the future.

"Target realizes now more than ever that we need to evolve constantly to ensure we are meeting our guests where they want to shop. So, I think Shipt will be a wonderful way for guests to get what they'd like in our store in under an hour," O'Gara explained.

Shipt memberships run $99 per year or $14 a month. To celebrate the new partnership with Target, Shipt is offering a special $49 membership available through the end of business on Thursday, June 14, 2018.
