LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WXIN) -- A nationwide crackdown on Internet sex crimes has landed 40 people in jail in Indiana, according to WXIN, the Fox affiliate in Indianapolis.

Operation Broken Heart targeted people suspected of Internet sex crimes against children. The operation was conducted from March to May and saw more than 25,000 tips come in across the country.

Investigators say they hope operations like this remind predators that they can't hide for long.

"If you are victimizing children, you may not have been arrested yet, but at some point you will be discovered, you will be arrested, you will be prosecuted and you will be convicted," said Indiana State Police Captain Chuck Cohen.

Overall, more than 2,300 arrests were made across the country.
