LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville City FC looked to gain on rival Cincinnati FC in the Eastern Conference Standings with a win over Penn FC Saturday night. The boys in purple sit four points behind first place Cincy.

Not an ideal start for Louisville City at Slugger Field. Just seconds into the start of the match, Penn gets the ball behind defender Paco Craig as forward Lucky Mkosana blows past him gaining possession and getting by goal keeper Greg Ranjitsingh. Mkosana tapped it into the right corner for his first goal since 2013 to give Penn the lead.

The defensive mishap didn't hinder Lou City though. They came back quickly with a one, two punch. Captain Paolo DelPiccolo scored the equalizer in the eighth minute striking with his left food well outside the box. The bullet went untouched into the right post. Ilija Ilic followed up with a header in the 11th minute off a beautiful touch from Kyle Smith. The go ahead goal put Lou City up

Ilic widened the gap scoring a second time, in extra time of the first half. The guys had control heading into half time with a 3-1 lead.

But defensive breakdowns in the second half led to two Penn FC goals in the 63rd and 84th minutes. Both teams share a point in the standings from the 3-3 draw.

Louisville City FC is back in action Wednesday night for the U.S. Open Cup's round of sixteen. They'll play USL opponent Nashville FC at UofL's Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn Stadium. Kick is set for 7 p.m.
