Alleged rape victim files lawsuit against Louisville Metro Police
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- An alleged rape victim is suing Louisville Metro Police.
Salisa Luster Harrison says she was raped 10 years ago.
She stood at the Judicial Center on Tuesday morning with her attorneys to discuss her lawsuit. They claim LMPD mishandled Harrison's case.
The lawsuit says her rape kit was never tested and the alleged suspect hasn't been identified.
Her attorneys claim Harrison was treated differently because of her race. "I was in my apartment for two days after I was raped, bloodied, beaten and unconscious. I was in the hospital for seven days even though my mind won't let me exactly remember who did this. DNA will let us know who that perpetrator is," Harrison said.
There are hundreds of untested rape kits in Kentucky that the Kentucky State Police lab is working on.
LMPD says the department can't comment on pending litigation.
