LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police say a Louisville man is facing a felony charge after a man was shot and killed in a home in Louisville's California neighborhood -- but the suspect isn't the man who pulled the trigger.

According to an arrest report, the shooting took place just before 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, at a home near the intersection of South 22nd Street and Grand Avenue, near Dr. W J Hodge Street.

Police say 19-year-old Lugene Floyd Jr. was inside the home with his brother and their mom, when a naked man -- 26-year-old Darryl Turpin Jr. -- came into the home and tried to sexually assault their mother.

According to the arrest report, Floyd's brother grabbed a pistol and shot and killed Turpin, as he was chasing Floyd's mother.

At that point, police say Floyd took the gun from his brother and fled the scene before police could arrive.

Floyd was arrested Tuesday morning and charged with tampering with physical evidence.

There is not yet any word on whether any charges will be filed against the man who actually shot Turpin. Police say the case will be referred to the Commonwealth's Attorney's Office to decide this matter. Anyone with information can call the anonymous police tip line at 502-574-LMPD (5673).
