Task force formed to address opioid epidemic in south Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A rampant drug problem is creating a deadly result in south Louisville. A recent report found the area saw the largest number of fatal overdoses in all of the metro.
So representatives from state government, law enforcement and addiction recovery specialists have formed a new task force to address the opioid epidemic.
"We've done some really good things in the general assembly, but we are still having folks die," said Rep. Jodi Jenkins. "So this is an attempt to say, 'What can we do as a community? Do we need to change state law? Do we need to do something locally?'"
Jenkins lost a nephew to drug addiction five years ago.
