Louisville Zoo welcomes 3-year-old male lion
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- There's a new "King of the Jungle" at the Louisville Zoo.
Siyanda is a three-year-old African male lion. He moved to the Louisville Zoo from the Fort Worth Zoo in Texas.
A standard 30 day quarantine is up, so Siyanda will go on exhibit in a rotation with the Zoo's 21-year-old lion, Kariba.
This species of lions is native to sub-Saharan Africa. North Africa species are extinct. African lions are listed as vulnerable on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.
