LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Volunteers spent Saturday sprucing up the Russell neighborhood.

About 200 people participated in the Habitat for Humanity's Love Your Neighborhood beautification event.

Volunteers repaired six homes and cleaned up common areas.

One of their goals is to allow longtime residents to remain in their homes.

"They put a flower garden in front of my house, which I always wanted to have when I was younger," Sharon Polk said. "It makes me happy because when I pull up in front of my house I see my flower garden and that makes me happy."

Volunteers also worked on art projects near Byck Elementary.
