RALEIGH, NC. (WDRB) – After a 2-1 victory over Nashville SC in Wednesday’s U.S. Open Cup round of 16, Louisville City FC went on the road to North Carolina FC looking for three points in USL regular season play. Instead, the boys in purple settled for a disappointing 2-2 draw.

Unfortunately, this is becoming a bad habit for Lou City. This is the third-straight regular season game they’ve blown a second half lead in which resulted in a draw.

LouCity trailed 1-0 early after North Carolina FC’s Daniel Rios scored in the 11th minute. Defender Paco Craig got the guys back to even with a header in the 39th minute off a corner kick to end the half 1-1.

Forward Ilija Ilic’s go-ahead goal in the 59th minute gave Lou City the 2-1 lead, but Rios equalized in the 87th minute. Another lackluster defensive performance late in the game cost the team.

Saturday’s draw with North Carolina keeps Lou City two points behind first-place FC Cincinnati in the Eastern Conference standings.

The guys are back in action Wednesday night at Louisville Slugger field against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds. Game time set for 7 p.m
