AUSTIN, Ind. (WDRB) -- A bright spot for a community that has been through a lot. Austin, Indiana, will soon unveil its brand new baseball field.

The city was at the center of the HIV outbreak, and has worked ever since at shedding the stigma associated with it.

Austin is one of five communities awarded $50,000 from the Scotts Field Refurbishment Program and Major League Baseball.

The competition was tough, Austin beat out Los Angeles and Kansas City for the funding.

"I was just amazed that we beat out bigger cities, and I just feel like this is a sign that there's positivity coming towards Austin," said Ethan Love, who works at the Austin Community Park.

A ribbon cutting ceremony for the new field is set for Wednesday.
