JCPS pays $500,000 to family of student sexually assaulted on bus
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- JCPS has paid half a million dollars to the family of a special needs student who was sexually assaulted on a school bus.
The district paid the family $500,000 to resolve the negligence claim, according to the settlement agreement obtained by WDRB.
The assault happened in Jan. 2017. The teenager who was assaulted is autistic and has the mental capacity of a three-year-old.
JCPS confirms that the students were on a special needs bus, and that none of the students on board had an aide or assistant assigned to them.
