LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police say a medical condition was a contributing factor in a deadly crash that happened on the I-64 eastbound ramp to I-65 north.

The man was 39-year-old Michael Murphy, according to Deputy Coroner Anthony Wight.

An LMPD spokesperson says 1st Division officers were dispatched to a single-vehicle crash Monday around 8:10 a.m.

Police say an initial investigation shows the vehicle was traveling on Interstate 64 eastbound and "left the roadway at the split." The vehicle then crossed the ramp to Interstate 65 north from Interstate 64 east and hit a wall before coming to a final stop in the grass.

Murphy was taken to University Hospital where he died from his injuries, according to officials.

Family members tell WDRB Murphy suffered a massive heart attack. The coroner is awaiting test results to determine the official cause of death.
