LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police are investigating after a vehicle and a man's body were pulled from the Ohio River Saturday afternoon.

LMPD spokesperson Alicia Smiley said police were searching the Ohio River after reports that a car drove into the water.

Smiley said a call was received around 10 a.m. stating a car had been driven into the Ohio River from the boat ramp at Cox Park.

When officers arrived, a witness stated a blue Lincoln Towncar with one person inside had been sitting at the boat ramp, when it accelerated at a high rate of speed and went into the river, according to Smiley.

The vehicle and the man's body were recovered around 3 p.m. No other information was immediately available.

Officials with LMPD's Fifth Division, Harrods Creek and Louisville Fire Departments, the LMPD Dive Team, Air 20 and the Downtown Area Patrol helped in the search.
