LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Two local fire districts will merge on July 1.

Lyndon Fire Chief David Howser says his district is merging with Saint Matthews.

Howser says the merger will enhance fire and emergency services to the area by reducing response times and increase staffing levels of all fire units.

The new district will now have four stations and about 90 full-time career fire and EMS personnel.

Howser says Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer signed the executive order for the merger last month.
