CLARKSVILLE, Ind. (WDRB) -- There may be a few days until the celebration of our nation's independence, but many people in Clarksville started early.

Sunday, the city held its fourth annual Independence Day Concert at Clarksville High School in their newly renovated auditorium.

The performances first began in 2015 inside the Clarksville Bass Pro, but have grown from there.

Sunday the community choir was joined by the Louisville Civic Orchestra to perform several patriotic classics.

"Music is a language that everybody speaks," said David Borman III, conductor for the Louisville Civic Orchestra. "It just allows us to grow together as a community in what can be some turbulent times right now. We take moments like this to break away from all the chaos."

The musicians closed the show with one of the most popular classic pieces ever written, George Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue."
