Man arrested for threatening to 'chop up' Sen. Rand Paul and family
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- U.S. Capitol Police arrested a man for reportedly threatening to "chop up" Kentucky's U.S. Senator Rand Paul and his family with an ax.
The Bowling Green Republican tweeted about the threat and the arrest Monday. He told the audience at the Grayson County Rotary meeting Monday that something needs to be done to bridge political differences across the country.
"I mean, it's just horrendous that we're having to deal with things like this," Paul said. "That on top of being attacked personally, having a very serious life-threatening attack on my person, then being shot at. I've had a year where it's becoming more and more aware that we have these real threats out there."
The identity of the man accused of threatening Paul's family hasn't been made public.
Paul said he is becoming increasingly concerned for his and his family's safety, especially after the November altercation in which he was assaulted by his neighbor.
In a separate case, prosecutors are appealing the 30-day sentence given to the neighbor who tackled and injured Paul while the lawmaker was doing yard work at his home.
