Parklands Summer Camps keep kids in touch with nature
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - The outdoors becomes a classroom at the Parklands Summer Camp.
The Parklands of Floyds Fork is offering four weeks of summer camp programs for kindergarten through sixth grade students from July 16 - August 10, 2018.
Topics range from Grossology and Water Warriors for K-3 grade students and Wilderness Explorers and Paddle the Parklands for 4-6 grade students.
The goal of Parklands Summer Camps is to introduce kids to their local landscape through outdoor recreation.
Campers hike, fish, canoe, creek walk, catch crawfish, and build forts all while learning about various ecosystems-forests, streams, wetlands, and meadows-through direct interaction.
Grades K-3 Summer Camp Schedule:
July 16-20: Water Warriors (NOW FULL!)
July 23-27: Grossology
July 30-Aug. 3: Feeding Frenzy
Aug. 6-10: Water Warriors
Grades 4-6 Summer Camp Schedule:
July 16-20: Paddle The Parklands
July 23-27: Rangers in Training
July 30-Aug. 3: Wilderness Explorers
Aug. 6-10: Paddle The Parklands
Summer Camps are based out of the PNC Achievement Center for Education and Interpretation in Beckley Creek Park. These full day programs include hands-on classroom activities, field hikes, "Sprayground Wednesdays," and more.
Each week of Summer Camp is $220 for Parklands Members or $245 for non-members.
