Clarksville plans to convert abandoned railway to urban trail
CLARKSVILLE, Ind. (WDRB) -- An abandoned railway in Clarksville, Indiana will eventually become a multi-use urban trail.
Clarksville's redevelopment commission has completed the purchase of the abandoned CSX rail corridor.
They city spent $887,000 on the property, which includes almost 23 acres and the bridge over Silver Creek. A design contract with an engineering firm to develop a 10-foot wide, 2,200-foot-long biking and running path along Lincoln Drive has already been approved.
Construction is expected to begin next summer.
