Louisville man arrested after stolen lottery tickets cashed
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville man has been arrested after police say he cashed stolen lottery tickets at an area convenience store.
Police say that on July 4, 22-year-old Charles Reese walked into the Minit Mart at 1123 South Floyd Street, near East St. Catherine Street, and cashed nine stolen tickets.
According to an arrest warrant, someone had previously broken into a local convenience store and taken the tickets. The theft had been reported to Louisville Metro Police and the Kentucky Lottery Corporation.
When the Kentucky Lottery Corporation discovered that some of the stolen tickets had been cashed, the company contacted Louisville Metro Police. Police say the were able to tie the stolen tickets to Reese, and get surveillance video of Reese cashing them at the store.
A warrant was issued for Reese's arrest on July 6. He was arrested Wednesday morning.
Reese is charged with receipt of stolen property and engaging in the unlawful access of a computer. He is currently being held in Louisville Metro Corrections.
