LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Drivers in Louisville's east end will see a major change this weekend.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is closing the exit ramp from I-64 East to I-264 West (Exit 12) starting at 9 p.m. on Saturday, July 14. The ramp will be closed for 30 days to allow for construction of an additional lane on the ramp from I-64 West.

Drivers on I-64 East should plan for a detour to get to I-264 West. Signs will be up on I-64 East telling drivers to exit at Cannons Lane (Exit 10) to Dutchman’s Lane to Taylorsville Road to get to I-264 West.

The exit ramp from I-64 West to I-264 West (Exit 12) will be closed overnight from 9 p.m. on Saturday, July 14 until 7 a.m. on Sunday, July 15.

Crews will be installing barrier walls for the construction project widening the ramp from one lane to two lanes. Motorists will be detoured to I-264 East to Westport Road (Exit 21), where they can turn left at the bottom of the ramp and then access I-264 West.

The construction could be delayed, if weather conditions change.
