Teens get special training behind the wheel from Ford
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The sound of tires peeling-out filled Cardinal Stadium Saturday.
Ford Motor Company rolled out its Driver's Training Clinic in the tailgating lots south of the stadium.
Dozens of teens got hours of hands-on experience behind the wheel. Instructors taught the teens everything from vehicle handling and speed to split-second maneuvering. The teens also learned about distracted and impaired driving.
Program manager Nolan Katerberg said the annual event helps teens develop safer driving habits.
"Unfortunately the leading cause of death of teenagers is vehicle crashes. Around 3,000 died every single year. We don't want to see that at all that's why we're giving them experience. This is all real world hands on what's gonna happen," Katerberg said.
Ford is holding another session Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
