ABC Chief Meteorologist Ginger Zee shared this video of a road in Colorado bulging from the heat! She explains that Denver has already seen 30 days with high temperatures at or above 90º.  Louisville hasn't even done that yet! We have seen 27 days at or above 90º.

This is actually a pretty common occurrence in the heat.  The pavement expands in heat, which roads are built for.  But in extreme heat, especially if any moisture is present, the concrete expands too much. At a crack or split the road can buckle like this because the concrete has expanded too much and has nowhere to go.
