Louisville mom arrested after child found in car 'soaking wet' and crying
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville mom was arrested Wednesday morning after police say she was found unconscious in a vehicle with her 11-month-old girl.
According to an arrest report, Louisville Metro Police were called to the 7000 block of Wildwood Circle, near the Wildwood County Club, after someone reported that a woman had been found passed out in a red Honda Civic.
When officers arrived, they allegedly found 21-year-old Julia Hardin unconscious inside the vehicle, with the door open.
Police say her 11-month-old daughter was in the back seat crying. According to the arrest report, she was "soaking wet and appeared exhausted from crying." Police say a large piece of taffy was stuck inside the little girl's mouth.
When police woke her up, Hardin was "confused and not making logical sense."
Police say they found containers of alcohol inside the car.
Hardin was arrested and charged with first-degree wanton endangerment. She is currently being held in Louisville Metro Corrections.
Child Protective Services was informed about the little girl.
