LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Local businesses have teamed up to improve safety near a home that serves some of Kentucky's most neglected and abused children.

Trains have always roared past the St. Joseph Children's Home on Frankfort Avenue. Now there's a new crossing gate with bells and lights to keep traffic from trying to cross when trains approach.

Siemens' rail signaling business donated the materials and CSX installed the gate. The project would have cost $250,000 without the donations.

The home serves children who have been removed from their homes and also has a preschool.
