An unusually strong low pressure and wickedly fast jet stream combine to bring the likelihood of severe weather to the Ohio & Tennessee Valley today and tonight. While a large portion of the day will be calm, be on the lookout because when storms develop, they will quickly intensify.

The greatest chance for severe storms should fire up later this afternoon into the evening. As these storms move south they should kick out the highest instability as they go. Locations not impacted by these storms will maintain high levels of instability keeping the risk for severe storms going.

Severe storms remain possible even after sunset.

One of the ingredients fueling the storms are the extreme levels of moisture. The dew points will surge into the mid-70s today!
