LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Metro Corrections officer demoted after a controversial Facebook post has now been promoted.

In 2016, Derek Hale shared a post on his personal Facebook page that said, "If we really wanted you dead, all we'd have to do is stop patrolling your neighborhoods and wait."

The post included a picture of a police officer leaning against a cruiser. Hale publicly apologized and was suspended for 29 days. He was also demoted, but was reinstated as sergeant in 2017.

Assistant Director Steve Durham says Hale was recently promoted to lieutenant.
